Pop Top Roofs
A pop top roof turns your van into a camper. The roof lifts when you park, giving you standing height and a second bed, then drops back to normal driving height for the road.
Drivelodge has designed and built pop top roofs in Yorkshire since 1994. Some call them elevating roofs. Most people call them pop tops. It's the same concept.

What a pop top roof gives you
Standing height when parked
Stand up, get changed, make a brew without stooping. How much headroom you gain depends on the van and the roof, so ask your fitter for the figure on yours.
Space for a second bed
Most pop top roofs give you the option to add a bed in the roof, so the space below stays yours, or you can sleep four in a van instead of two.
Normal driving height
When the roof is stowed, you're back to normal height. No worries about barriers, ferry surcharges, car park entry or fitting into your garage.
A canvas that seals
We use UK-made canvas, designed as part of the roof rather than fitted around it afterwards, and tested against wind and rain before it leaves the factory.
5-year warranty
We perform thorough quality assurance at each stage of the manufacturing process, and our roofs come with a 5-year warranty as standard

Canvas made in our own factory
We cut and stitch every canvas ourselves in Keighley. Three windows or the full scenic canvas, in a range of colours from bright shades to anthracite grey.
A one-piece steel frame
The roof is built around a single-piece box section frame and secured with multiple mounting points for maximum durability and strength.
Carpeted trim boards as standard
The whole cutout arrives finished with pre-carpeted boards. Most roof companies charge extra for this or leave it to the fitter. Yours arrives fitted and ready to use.
Fixed front spoiler
Cuts wind noise and buffeting at motorway speed, and stops air getting underneath and lifting the roof. It also means no ugly rubber seal running across the front.
Laser-cut stainless steel hinges, tumbled
Laser-cut then tumbled in our workshop to take the edges off. No sharp corners means nothing to catch or cut the canvas over the years, and a better finish.
Two lights built in
Integrated LED lighting is installed flush with the ceiling, with wiring concealed within a sewn canvas pocket, keeping the cabin tidy and allowing access when needed.

How it works
Choose your van and roof
Pick your model, your roof style and your canvas. Use the configurator or call the workshop and talk it through.
We build it
Every roof is made at our West Yorkshire factory. Wood, metalwork, canvas and trim, all under one roof.
Your fitter installs it
Choose one of our 51 approved fitters. Fits take 2–3 days of workshop time, depending on the van and any extras.
You collect
The warranty starts the day you drive away. Five years, covering the roof, the canvas and the fit.
How much does a pop top roof cost?
A Drivelodge pop top roof has a recommended retail price of £3,075 to £4,000. That covers the roof and the fitting, including VAT. What you pay depends on your van.
What the price includes
The roof, the canvas, fitting by an approved installer and the five-year warranty. It is a complete fitted price, not a supply-only figure with labour on top.
Why we publish a price
So you know roughly what you are looking at before you ring anyone. Our approved fitters quote their own labour, so your final price may land under the figures above.
Why we are not the cheapest
We manufacture the roof in Yorkshire, to our own design, and an independent approved fitter installs it near you, which is the only way for us to guarantee the quality of both the build and the fit.

Pop-top roof fitters near you
We build the roofs. We do not fit them all ourselves.
50+ approved fitters install Drivelodge roofs across the UK and Ireland, from Cornwall to Aberdeenshire. Every one of them is trained by us, works to our fitting standard and carries the five-year warranty. Use a fitter who is not approved and the warranty does not hold.
Pop top or high top: which one?
A pop top suits anyone who uses the van in the week and camps at weekends. A high top suits full-time conversions, where permanent standing height matters more than getting into a multi-storey car park. We build both, for the same vans, with the same warranty.
About Drivelodge
Built in Yorkshire since 1994
David started Drivelodge in a Skipton textile mill in 1994. We still design and build every roof ourselves, now at Crosshills near Keighley, with a team of 30.
Our roofs go out under our own name and under other people's. If you have bought a pop top from a converter in the last thirty years, there is a fair chance we made it.

Which vans can have a Drivelodge pop top roof?
35 models, from a Citroen Berlingo up to a Ford Transit. Check the full list and find yours.
Can I have the roof painted to match my van?
Yes. We paint roofs to any factory colour at our own workshop, and we offer a black gel finish as an alternative.
Can I fit a pop top roof myself?
For most vans, no. The Land Rover Defender is the exception and we do a self-fit kit for it.
Do pop top roofs leak?
Ours do not. The canvas is UK-made and the seal is designed as part of the roof rather than fitted around it. That is what the five-year warranty covers.
Will a pop top roof affect my MOT or insurance?
No MOT implications. Tell your insurer the van has been converted, as you would with any modification.
How much extra headroom do you get?
It depends on the van and the roof. Most give enough to stand up and move around comfortably. Your approved fitter can give you the exact figure for your model.
How long does fitting take?
Two to three days at your fitter's workshop, depending on the van and the extras.
