T5 & T6 SWB Pop Top Roofs. Designed and built in the UK.

We design, manufacture and test each of our Volkswagen T5 & T6 high top and elevating roofs at our UK factory, allowing us to guarantee quality craftsmanship from start to finish, including woodwork, metalwork and interior trimming.

Created by campers, for campers

From build quality, to ease of operation, to those finishing touches which make all the difference to your Volkswagen T5 & T6 SWB campervan, every design choice we make is informed by a long family history of converting, customising and enjoying our own motorhomes.

Low profile roof for reduced noise

With the Volkswagen T5 & T6 SWB pop top elevating roof closed, its streamlined profile and integrated front spoiler minimise wind resistance and noise, ensuring a quieter and more fuel-efficient journey.

Single-piece box section frame

The single-piece box section frame of our elevating roofs provides exceptional strength and rigidity, further enhanced by multiple mounting points for a secure and stable fit. Each roof is custom-shaped for your specific model, which eliminates the risk of leaks, while stainless steel hinges provide long-lasting, corrosion-resistant performance.

Integrated interior lighting

Recessed LED lighting provides ample illumination within the elevated roof space, while concealed wiring, neatly integrated within bespoke fabric panels, maintains a clean and uncluttered interior finish.

Peace of mind with our 5-year warranty

Quality is a priority at Drivelodge, with QA checks built in to every stage of the build and testing process. As a result, we’re pleased to offer a 5-year warranty on every Volkswagen T5 & T6 SWB pop top elevating roof we supply.

Any Questions?

If you can’t find the information you’re looking for here, give us a call/send us an email and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you have.

Which vans can have a Drivelodge high top roof?

11 models, including the Transit Custom, the VW T4, T5 and T6, the Relay, the Bongo and the Alphard.

Can I buy a high top roof without fitting?

Our retail prices cover the roof and the fitting, because fitting a high top means cutting and bonding the van and it matters who does it. Call the workshop and we will tell you what is possible for your model.

Do high top roofs leak?

Ours do not. It is a bonded, sealed fibreglass roof with no moving parts, and the five-year warranty covers it.

Can I fit a high top roof to a van that already has a pop top?

Yes, but the pop top has to come off first and the aperture needs checking. Ask your fitter to look at it.

Will a high top roof affect my MOT or insurance?

No MOT implications. Tell your insurer the van has been converted, as you would with any modification.

What are high top roofs made from?

Fibreglass, moulded at our factory in Keighley. White gel coat as standard, black gel or painted to match your van.

How tall will my van be with a high top roof?

Above 2m on most vans. Check height barriers, your garage and any car park you use regularly before you order.

How much headroom does a high top roof add?

It depends on the van and the roof. Most give enough to stand up and move around comfortably. Driveloddge or your approved fitter can give you the exact figure for your model.

Which vans can have a Drivelodge pop top roof?

35 models, from a Citroen Berlingo up to a Ford Transit. Check the full list and find yours.

Can I have the roof painted to match my van?

Yes. We paint roofs to any factory colour at our own workshop, and we offer a black gel finish as an alternative.

Can I fit a pop top roof myself?

For most vans, no. The Land Rover Defender is the exception and we do a self-fit kit for it.

Do pop top roofs leak?

Ours do not. The canvas is UK-made and the seal is designed as part of the roof rather than fitted around it. That is what the five-year warranty covers.

Will a pop top roof affect my MOT or insurance?

No MOT implications. Tell your insurer the van has been converted, as you would with any modification.

How much extra headroom do you get?

It depends on the van and the roof. Most give enough to stand up and move around comfortably. Your approved fitter can give you the exact figure for your model.

How long does fitting take?

Two to three days at your fitter's workshop, depending on the van and the extras.

Do you offer custom-built roofs?

We don’t offer a custom commissioning service for one-off roof designs, as our meticulous design, development and quality assurance process would make this prohibitively expensive. However, we offer several customisation options (depending on the individual roof) including colour-coding, windows and openings, interior carpeting and integrated bed boards.

Can I purchase a roof online?

As all our roofs are professionally installed, and usually customised to some extent, we don’t offer a “buy online” option. To place an order, use our online configurator or fill out the enquiry form on the relevant product page, and we’ll be in touch to advise you on the price and recommend the closest approved installer. Billing will then be handled directly through your installer.

Do you sell roofs as kits for self-assembly?

We don’t sell roof kits directly to our customers, as we’re committed to guaranteeing the quality of the installation by carrying it out in-house or via our approved installers — allowing us to offer a comprehensive 5-year warranty. The one exception is for our Land Rover Defender elevating roofs, as the unique nature of the vehicle makes this a much easier home installation.

I can’t find my vehicle listed – are there other roofs available?

Yes, there are a number of cases where a roof designed for one model will fit another model perfectly — sometimes even a different make and model. This is due to manufacturers sharing platforms, meaning the same Drivelodge roof will fit any model with the same roof shape. Get in touch to learn if we have an existing roof compatible with your vehicle, or one in the design process.

When can I drop off / collect my vehicle?

If you’d like to have your new roof conversion carried out at our North Yorkshire facility, then you’ll need to arrange this in advance with us, at which point we’ll discuss the best time for delivery and collection. If you’re using one of our dedicated network of approved installers, then you should deal with them directly to schedule the best time to drop off and collect your vehicle.
