Drivelodge - Raising the roof on standards.

High Top Roofs

A high top roof gives your van permanent standing height. It is a fixed fibreglass roof, bonded and sealed to the van, with no canvas and nothing to raise or lower.

Drivelodge has built high top roofs in Yorkshire since 1994. Every one is moulded at our own factory in Keighley.

What you get

What a high top roof gives you

Standing height, always

Nothing to raise, nothing to unclip. Open the door and stand up, whether you are parked up for the night or loading tools on a Tuesday morning.

A solid, insulated roof

Fibreglass rather than canvas. Warmer in winter, quieter in wind and rain, and no condensation running down the inside on a cold morning.

Storage and lighting above

Fit lockers, spotlights, a roof bed or a shelf. With no canvas in the way, the space above your head becomes usable.

No moving parts

Nothing to wear out, nothing to reseal, nothing to fold away wet. Fit it once and forget about it.

5-year warranty

We perform thorough quality assurance at each satge of the manufacturing process, and our roofs come with a 5-year warranty as standard

Optional Extras

Bi Fold Elevating Bed

Add a bi-fold bed to your conversion to provide comfortable accommodation for one or two people, then fold it away to make the most of the available living space.

How it works

Choose your van and roof

Pick your model, your finish and any extras. Use the configurator or call the workshop.

We build it

Every roof is moulded at our factory in Keighley, West Yorkshire, then finished and painted before it ships.

An approved fitter installs it

The old roof section comes out, the new roof is bonded and sealed, and the interior is finished.

You collect

The warranty starts the day you drive away. Five years, covering the roof and the fit.

How much does a high top roof cost?

A Drivelodge high top roof has a recommended retail price of £2,275 to £2,650. That covers the roof and the fitting, including VAT.

What the price includes

The moulded fibreglass roof in white gel coat, fitting by an approved installer and the five-year warranty. It is a complete fitted price, not a supply-only figure with labour on top.

Why we publish a price

So you know roughly what you are looking at before you ring anyone. Our approved fitters quote their own labour, so your final price may land under the figures above.

Why we are not the cheapest

We manufacture the roof in Yorkshire, to our own design, and an independent approved fitter installs it near you, which is the only way for us to guarantee the quality of both the build and the fit.

High top van roof installers near you

We build the roofs. We do not fit them all ourselves. All 51 of our approved fitters install high top roofs as well as pop tops, across the UK and Ireland. Every one is trained by us, works to our fitting standard and carries the five-year warranty.

Fitting a high top means cutting and bonding, so it matters who does it. Use a fitter who is not approved and the warranty does not hold.

High top or pop top: which one?

A high top suits anyone who wants standing height all the time and does not need to get under a height barrier. A pop top suits anyone using the van daily and camping at weekends. We build both, for the same vans, with the same warranty.

About Drivelodge

Built in Yorkshire since 1994

David started Drivelodge in a Skipton textile mill in 1994. We still design and build every roof ourselves, now at Crosshills near Keighley, with a team of 30.

Our roofs go out under our own name and under other people's. If you have bought a pop top from a converter in the last thirty years, there is a fair chance we made it.

High Top Roof FAQs

If you can’t find the information you’re looking for here, give us a call/send us an email and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you have.

Which vans can have a Drivelodge high top roof?

11 models, including the Transit Custom, the VW T4, T5 and T6, the Relay, the Bongo and the Alphard.

Can I buy a high top roof without fitting?

Our retail prices cover the roof and the fitting, because fitting a high top means cutting and bonding the van and it matters who does it. Call the workshop and we will tell you what is possible for your model.

Do high top roofs leak?

Ours do not. It is a bonded, sealed fibreglass roof with no moving parts, and the five-year warranty covers it.

Can I fit a high top roof to a van that already has a pop top?

Yes, but the pop top has to come off first and the aperture needs checking. Ask your fitter to look at it.

Will a high top roof affect my MOT or insurance?

No MOT implications. Tell your insurer the van has been converted, as you would with any modification.

What are high top roofs made from?

Fibreglass, moulded at our factory in Keighley. White gel coat as standard, black gel or painted to match your van.

How tall will my van be with a high top roof?

Above 2m on most vans. Check height barriers, your garage and any car park you use regularly before you order.

How much headroom does a high top roof add?

It depends on the van and the roof. Most give enough to stand up and move around comfortably. Driveloddge or your approved fitter can give you the exact figure for your model.
